John Rees is a Michigan family farm-raised award-winning architect known locally as ‘that architect who builds’.

​He is a multi-state licensed Architect, General Contractor, and Real Estate Broker who in 2006, relocated his Southern California architectural design studio specializing in custom homes, destination retail environments, restaurants, and site planning to Wilmington, North Carolina. 

Mr. Rees attended Kansas State University School of Architecture and has designed the highest quality site and architectural solutions for awesome homeowners and restauranteurs from LA / Aspen and in many other states, Universal Studios Hollywood, Wilmington Association of Realtors, NC State University, ILM, LAX, celebrity homeowners, and professional home builders with all projects being completed in a fast, accessible and easygoing professional manner.

We efficiently select every carpet thread, finish, and piece of furniture when requested.  The project was built by Clancy and Theys.  Because we build on occasion, our designs are very builder friendly.

Who do you call on an early Saturday morning when a Uhaul nearly collapses your building?  John Rees bottle jacked up and shored his design, got his subs closing up the hole, met with the fire marshal, and notified the health department by noon.   With the building shored and secured, all operations were allowed to resume based on his reputation with the authorities.  Over the next 2 months, the building was safely shored and repaired by Rees Development Corporation.
